The Kids Pastor provides direct pastoral oversight for the Kids Ministry (birth to 5th grade) of Bethalto Church of God (BCOG). The Kids Pastor should have a passion for teaching kids God’s Word and should be willing to think outside the box to present the Gospel message to kids in relevant and age-appropriate ways.
The ideal candidate will have good people skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills. Must be a team player, work closely with a large group of volunteers and other staff members. Must serve as role model of Christian virtues to the children and overall congregation. Most importantly, should be saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Responsibilities
o Pastor the children and families of the Kids Ministry.
o Have direct oversight for the following key areas of ministry: Nursery, Toddlers, Preschool, Children’s Church, Mid-week services, Summer Programs (VBS, Youth Camp, Kidfest), and Special Events (Easter, Grandparents Day, Christmas Program, etc.)
o Lead the Kids Ministry Team by providing direction, spiritual oversight, vision, strategic development, and coaching for volunteer team members.
o Oversee the daily operations of the Kids Ministry to ensure discipleship and development of gifts.
o Maintain open and on-going communication with the kids and their families through the most effective means possible (social media groups, text messaging, email, phone call, etc.)
o Ensure social media presence is developed and maintained to promote the kid’s ministry.
o Support and ensure engagement with Church of God district, state, and international events.
o Ensure that kids are integrated into all church ministries as much as possible.
o Assist in the development of Kids Ministry annual budget and fundraising.
Staff Duties
• Attend weekly staff meetings and give a general report on kid’s ministry.
• Maintain Office Hours as outlined by the lead pastor.
• Attend all scheduled church-wide services and events, unless otherwise communicated.
• Participate in overall church ministries and vision planning.
• Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma and prior ministry leadership experience, preferred in kids, youth, or family ministry. The applicant must have excellent people skills, communication skills, computer skills and a good attitude.
