JOB OVERVIEW
The Music Pastor leads the entire musical aspect of Worship for the Multicultural and diverse Pentecostal Community of the Woodward Church of God. With proven ability to successfully lead multiple teams, this position strategically establishes and tailors
meaningful opportunities for children and adults to participate and grow in the music ministry of the church. Additionally, the Music Pastor offers a forward-propelling approach to the musical abilities of students with the goal of building future music teams for the church. This position plans all Worship services utilizing praise teams, choir, and band as well as the planning of relative activities while leveraging the the talents and abilities of the teams so as to equip them for the music ministry. The Music Pastor position requires consistency in personal spiritual discipline with demonstrated holiness as the standard of living, and strength in the areas of musical (vocal and instrumental) proficiency, stage & pastoral presence, pastoral leadership, coaching, change management, and recruitment of talent.
The individual must be Pentecostal and filled with the Spirit who lives counter-culturally, as outlined in Scripture. He/she must have knowledge and experience of the moving of the Holy Spirit in his/her personal life as well as in a Worship service. While highly energetic and a planner, he/she must have a defined leadership style who embraces opportunities to co-lead, sing, and play with our Latino congregation during our bi-lingual scheduled services (once per quarter at minimum). The individual should be a self-starter, persistent, and adept with current technology used in music planning and performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Plan Sunday and other services’ musical worship offerings
· Lead others into Worship by way of music during Sunday & other services
· Communicate with musical teams so as to prepare them for services, events, rehearsals, etc. (Relay expectations of musical selections, preferred vocal & instrumental arrangements using existing successful method for these teams)
· Cultivate students with musical aptitude by way of engagement, special service opportunities, coaching, mentoring, etc. so as to prepare future church musicians
· Establish musical leadership team for counsel and opportunities to contribute their talents and gifts with a cohesive music program in mind
· Co-facilitate, with leaders, communications/meetings to ensure participation thoughts are brought forward for consideration
· Continue to build and maintain a digital comprehensive music library
· Coordinate and plan rehearsal activities
· Identify appropriate resources, facilitating team, ensuring actions are completed timely
· Cultivate and allow the contribution of musical gifts and talents within the
congregation for use in services
· Regularly measure self-performance and the performance of the music program and identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities to continuously ensure God is receiving the best from you and the teams you lead
· Develop and contribute ideas about strategic issues for consideration by the Lead Pastor and or his/her designee
· Manage other duties, meetings and projects as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Music related field (or demonstrated ability equivalent, to include theology in music and reading sheet music)
· Demonstrated knowledge of theology of music
· Proficient piano and vocal skills with the ability to vocally arrange and teach harmony parts
· Willingness to sing in Spanish as needed during scheduled bi-lingual services
· Minimum three (3) years experience as Music Pastor or Assistant Music Pastor
· Understanding of Pentecostal theology as it relates to music, service planning, and service participation
· Outstanding communication skills for presentation, written, and verbal expression with fellow pastoral team, congregation, and the team(s) he/she leads
· Strong organizational skills
· Resourcefulness & strong decision making skills
· Leadership, teamwork and the ability to develop others
· Excellent computer skills (Microsoft & IOS products)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Multiple teams of volunteers
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
▪ Office hours dependent on after hour church activity participation and the ability to deliver the expected results
▪ Some lifting required
