Position Summary
The Discipleship Pastor provides leadership and oversight for the church’s discipleship and spiritual formation ministries. This role is responsible for creating and strengthening pathways that help people grow in their relationship with Christ, connect in biblical community, discover their purpose, and engage in the mission of the church.
Working closely with the Executive Pastor and ministry leaders, the Discipleship Pastor will recruit, equip, and develop volunteer leaders while ensuring that discipleship ministries remain aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Living Faith Church.
The Discipleship Pastor oversees key areas including Small Groups, New Believer Mentoring, Membership and Next Steps, Care Ministries, Leadership Development, and Spiritual Formation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
* Provide leadership and oversight for all discipleship and spiritual formation ministries.
* Develop and strengthen pathways that help people take meaningful next steps in their faith journey.
* Lead and oversee:
* Small Groups and Community Groups
* New Believer Mentoring and Foundational Discipleship
* Membership and Next Steps Processes
* Care and Benevolence Ministries
* Leadership Development Initiatives
* Recruit, train, coach, and support volunteer leaders.
* Foster a culture of spiritual growth, biblical community, and servant leadership.
* Ensure discipleship ministries align with the overall mission and vision of the church.
Leadership & Administration
* Work closely with the Executive Pastor to implement vision, strategy, and ministry goals.
* Coordinate ministry calendars, scheduling, and planning processes.
* Assist in the development and management of ministry budgets.
* Collaborate effectively with staff and ministry leaders across all departments.
* Evaluate ministry effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
* Lead projects and initiatives that strengthen the discipleship culture of the church.
Pastoral Ministry
* Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and support to volunteers and attendees.
* Develop meaningful relationships with ministry leaders and church members.
* Assist with churchwide events, ministry initiatives, and pastoral responsibilities as assigned.
Sunday Responsibilities
* Participate in pastoral and volunteer leadership gatherings.
* Support weekend services and special events.
* Help create welcoming environments where people feel valued, connected, and cared for.
* Assist in maintaining the culture, vision, and flow of Sunday gatherings.
Qualifications:
Required
* A growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
* Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, Biblical Studies, or a related field.
* Minimum of five years of pastoral ministry experience.
* Experience leading discipleship, small groups, or spiritual formation ministries.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders.
* Strong organizational and project management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Preferred
* Experience developing and scaling church discipleship systems.
* Experience serving in a multi-staff church environment.
* Demonstrated success in building healthy volunteer teams and leadership pipelines.
